Cringila Lions 1 – 10 Wollongong United

Wollongong United hit the season’s highest mark with a 10-1 drubbing of Cringila at Crehan Park on Sunday. Leading goal scorer Robbie Shields scored six on the day to take his season tally to 26 goals.

Johnny Martinoski set the tone for the day in just the 2^nd minute when he scored the game’s opening goal. Shields picked up his first for the day four minutes later before nabbing another in the 23^rd minute to make it 3-0. Martinoski scored his second in the 33rd minute before Cringila pulled one back through Stefan Dimoski five minutes before the half time whistle to make it 4-1.

Business resumed shortly after the break with Shields confirming his first hat-trick of the day just a minute after the restart. Shields then added another in the 63^rd minute. Adrian Nikolovski entered the party in the 77^th minute to score a goal before Martinoski sealed his own hat-trick with a goal two minutes later. The flurry continued shortly after with Shields scoring again in the 80^th minute before wrapping up his double hat-trick with a goal four minutes before the final whistle.

Port Kembla 4 – 0 Bellambi

Two goals each from Nuno Pires and Mitchell Scazzariello gave Port Kembla a decisive victory over Bellambi and Wetherall Park on Saturday.

It wasn’t until midway through the first half that the game got its first goal when Nuno Pires pounced to make it 1-0 in the 31^st minute. The goal proved to be the opening half’s only goal as Port entered the break with a slim lead.

Scazzariello made it 2-0 in the 64^th minute before two quick goals late in the game sealed the win for Port. Scazzariello netted again in the 78^th minute before Pires wrapped up the scoring and the win for Port with a goal two minutes later.

Wollongong Olympic 3 – 2 Fernhill

A late goal from Javier Ovando gave Wollongong Olympic a hard-earned victory over relegation candidates Fernhill at the PCYC on Saturday.

Sam Gordon got things underway early with a goal in just the 2^nd minute but Fernhill hit back just nine minutes later when Andy Keep found the back of the net to make it 1-1. Gordon and Keep traded blows again later in the half when Gordon first found the net in the 32^nd minute before Keep answered a single minute later with his second goal of the match. The two sides remained locked at 2-2 when the half time whistle blew.

A competitive second half saw neither side able to break down the opposition early on. In the 86^th minute, however, Ovando popped up to score the winner for Wollongong and continue their positive end to the season.

Albion Park White Eagles 0 – 3 Tarrawanna Blueys

Tarrawanna got back on the winner’s list when they travelled to Terry Reserve on Saturday and came away with a strong three goals to nil victory over the White Eagles.

Vaughan Patterson scored the first half’s only goal with his eighth of the season in the 35^th minute to ensure Tarrawanna entered the break with the advantage.

The Blueys doubled their lead midway through the second half when Jake Morlando found the back of the net in the 60^th minute.
Nick Morgan chipped in to score Tarrawanna’s third of the day in the 72^nd minute from the penalty spot which resulted from a nasty incident involving Park’s Fabian Cappetta and the Blueys Blaise Gassin with the outcome being a red card issued to both players.

Woonona 1 – 1 Dapto Dandaloo Fury

Two goals in three minutes saw Dapto Dandaloo and Woonona play out a 1-1 draw at Ocean Park on Saturday.

Looking for a win that would push Bulli right to the wire in the race for the League Championship, the Fury couldn’t get going in the opening 45 minutes as the two teams remained scoreless at the break.

Five minutes into the second half, Shaun McRae got things underway with his ninth goal of the season, but just three minutes later the goal was cancelled out when Trent Worthington found the back of the net to draw the teams level again. Neither side could break the deadlock in the remaining half hour as they shared the points on the day.

Bulli 1 – 1 South Coast United

South Coast United sealed their place in the semi-finals with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against League Leaders Bulli at Balls Paddock on Saturday. You can read the full match report here.
