Warilla Wanderers 2 – 1 Picton Rangers

A brace from Luke Greathead was enough to ensure Warilla came away 2-1 winners over Picton at King Mickey Park on Saturday. The two sides started the day equal 3rd on the ladder with 32 points but the win was enough to see the Wanderers move up into 2nd.

A slow first half was broken just before the break when Greathead grabbed his first goal of the match to give his side a 1-0 lead at half time. The second half got underway with Picton searching for an equaliser but it was Greathead again in the 70th minute that made the win for Wanderers. A consolation goal to Nicholas Mugridge gave Picton a glimmer of hope but Warilla were able to hold out for the win.

Coniston Lions 1 – 3 Berkeley Sports

Berkeley Sports were able to move themselves one spot up to 5th on the ladder with a 3-1 win over Coniston at J J Kelly on Saturday.

Berkeley were off to a bright start when Tony Paglialunga put them 1-0 up just five minutes into the match. Chris Rowlan made it 2-0 to Berkeley in the 28th minute before a Reice Borg pulled a goal back for Coniston in the 38th minute. The score remained 2-1 at half time.

The two sides tussled for control of the game for most of the second half before Robert Cull put the game beyond doubt for Berkeley with a goal in the 88th minute.

Corrimal Rangers 0 – 0 Shell Cove FC

The league’s top two teams played out a difficult 0-0 draw at Memorial Park on Saturday as neither side could breakthrough some stout defending on the day.

Despite the win, Shell Cove remain seven points clear at the top of the table while Corrimal slipped from 2nd to 3rd on goal difference.

Kemblawarra 2 – 1 Balgownie Rangers

Kemblawarra fought back from a goal down to defeat Balgownie 2-1 at Albert Butler Park on Saturday.

Balgownie made the perfect start to the match when Brent Wilson put them 1-0 up just two minutes into the game. Damien Jorge struck back for Kemblawarra in the 28th minute to force the sides into half time all tied up at 1-1.

With both teams searching for a winning goal in the second half it was Jorge again who proved to be the match winner as he found the back of the net for his second of the game in the 68th minute.

Oak Flats Falcons 3 – 2 Kiama Quarriers

Oak Flats were able to overcome a resilient Kiama side to claim a 3-2 win at Keith Bond Oval on Saturday.

Kiama took the lead midway through the first half when Damien Counter was able to find the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. An own goal from Daniel Brsakovski set Oak Flats back but the defender was able to make amends with a goal for his team in the 55th minute.

Second half strikes from Alexander Bausch and Liam Gallo was the difference on the day as the Falcons moved up into 4th place.

Wests Illawarra 1 – 0 Helensburgh Thistle

Wests Illawarra scored an unlikely 1-0 victory over Helensburgh at Unanderra Oval on Saturday.

A 16th minute strike from Steven Dimitrievski was enough for Wests to secure the win and bring themselves back level on points Kiama in 12th.

Thirroul Thunder 2 – 1 UOW FC

Thirroul were able to keep themselves in top four contention with a 2-1 win over UOW at Thomas Gibson Park on Saturday. Despite sitting in 7th, there is now only three points separating Thirroul from the 2nd place.

Despite a goal to UOW’s Tobias Williams, the Thunder were able to come away with the win through goals from James Hutton and Bradley Strudwick.
