Olympic Women dominate Helensburgh

Olympic put on a dominant performance to defeat Helensburgh 9-0 in their match played at Judy Masters Oval Balgownie on Sunday.

Both teams played extremely well with good passing and great teamwork and provided spectators with an entertaining game but Olympic was just too strong for Helensburgh who never gave up.

Olympic dominated right from the start with two unsuccessful attempts at scoring in the first five minutes.

Olympic had a good chance of scoring in the 11th minute after Sophi Lederer had a powerful shot at the goals from outside the box but the ball unfortunately hit the top of the post.

A few minutes later Olympic put the first points on the board after Stephanie Stier-Gebhardt kicked a shot in from the right hand side of the goals which hit the left side goal post and went in.

Olympic 1 – Helensburgh 0.

Olympics Emilia Skopal continued to pressure Helensburgh with two unsuccessful attempts at goal before finally scoring in the 20th minute of the match after Teira Humby crossed the ball to Emilia from the left hand side of the field into the middle directly in front of the goals which allowed Emilia to softly kick the ball past the goalkeeper into the left side of the goal net.

Olympic 2 – Helensburgh 0.

Five minutes later, Olympic scored another goal, this time Alexandra Scobie crossed the ball to Emilia who headed the ball to Sophi Lederer who kicked the ball straight into the left hand side of the goal net.

Olympic 3 – Helensburgh 0.

Emilia Skopal scored her second goal of the match for Olympic in the 27th minute of the game after Samantha Clark crossed the ball from the right hand side of the field to Emilia who had a clear shot into the left hand side of the goal.

Olympic 4 – Helensburgh 0.

Helensburgh did have two chances to score in the 26th and 27th minute but were unable to put the ball into the back of the net.

In the 31st minute Olympic’s Alexandra Scobie was able to score from a Helensburgh ricochet taking the score to 5-0 in favour of Olympic.

Eight minutes later Olympic were in again after Sophi Lederer skillfuly dribbled the ball past three Helensburgh players from the right hand side of the field to place herself right in front of the goals where she kicked the ball into the back of the net.

At half time the score was Olympic 6 - Helensburgh 0.

The second half commenced with Helensburgh trying to attack. Erin Blackwell had a good run up the right hand side of the field before kicking it diagonally towards the goals but the goalkeeper managed to save it.

Helensburgh held off Olympic until the 58th minute when Sophie Soles scored.

Olympic 7- Helensburgh 0.

Helensburgh were now playing defensively giving Olympic two more chances at goal but they were unsuccessful.

Despite a good attempt by Helensburgh to defend their goal Olympic were able to score again the 24th minute. Olympic’s Alexandra Scobie managed to get past the Helensburgh defence crowding the goal and score for Olympic.

Olympic 8 – Helensburgh 0.

The last goal of the match was scored by Sophi Lederer scoring a hat trick for Olympic after a cross in by Stephanie Stier-Gebhardt allowed Sophi to kick the ball straight into the right hand corner of the nets.

Olympic had a well-deserved victory against Helensburgh who, to their credit, never gave up.
