WOMEN'S DIV 2 - ROUND 1

Despite the weather requiring the game to be relocated to the PCYC, the game kicked off in bright sunshine and on a relatively dry pitch.

Ahead of their first ever game in the competition, the Coniston girls were a bit nervous and with the message about the rescheduled fixture not reaching everyone, were down to only 10 players. Olympic on the other hand had a full bench and were ready to go.

The first half saw all the play in the Coniston half and the Coniston keeper regularly called into action pulling off some very good saves.

Despite the territorial and numerical advantage, Olympic only managed to take a 2-0 lead into half time.

The second half saw Olympic press their numerical and territorial advantage and against a rapidly tiring defence, gaps began to open up. Coniston’s keeper continued to make some great saves and to try and spur her team along from the back but couldn’t prevent the inevitable. Continued raids by Olympic saw the score blow out to 10 –nil by full time.

Whilst not an auspicious start to their FSC career, the Coniston girls impressed, with their never give up attitude and positive approach to the game. Hopefully a full roster in future weeks will see better results. Olympic on the other hand were fast and well structured and look headed for a good season.
