NBA PROSPECT SIGNS WITH BRISBANE SPARTANS
THE Brisbane Spartans are excited to announce the signing of NBA prospect in centre Jaleel Roberts for the 2016 SEABL season.
Roberts, who stands at 216cm or 7'1" in the old scale, joins the Spartans after playing for the Washington Wizards in the NBA Summer League and also making three appearances in the NBA preseason.
The 23-year-old UNC Asheville graduate said he could not wait to join CJ Bruton and the Spartans for the upcoming season.
"I'm very excited to compete with the Spartans this season and work with a great coaching staff and group of players," Roberts said.
""During my time at the Spartans, I want to develop my game and hopefully make the club proud."
The Spartans are putting an impressive squad together, which already includes Isaih and Josh Tueta, former Perth Wildcat Mathiang Muo, stalwarts Jeff Morton and Dean Brebner and a number of key signings to be announced in the coming days.
But coach CJ Bruton said the addition of Roberts was significant to the team's hopes of a playoffs berth.
"Jaleel is one of the most talented players we have had come to this organisation," Bruton said.
"After speaking to the Washington Wizards VP of Basketball Tommy Sheppard about Jaleel, I believe we are very lucky and excited about how he can anchor this ball club."
The Spartans start their season in Geelong on April 1.
