Member Update - Annual General Meeting
Annual General Meeting
On Sunday 15th March the Clubs Annual General Meeting was held at St Clair Recreation Centre. Unfortunately, there were insufficient numbers to form a quorum and as such the meeting was adjourned. The AGM has been rescheduled for Sunday 29th March, 5pm at St Clair Recreation Centre.
The WDBC board are aware that there has been some confusion about the people that have been informed of the AGM and provided notice and papers relating to the AGM. We wish to advise that the Club’s Life Members and registered Individual Members were provided the relevant meeting notices and documentation. We note that there has been some concern that the recognized membership list may not be as exhaustive as some believe it should. We also understand that there has been a lot of confusion in regard to what constitutes membership of the Club and voting rights at General Meetings. The Board is aware of this issue and will be addressing the matter immediately after the AGM.
The definition of membership for the purposes of this rescheduled AGM will be defined as Individual Members; Life Members and Senior Members (18 and over).
The Board will seek to amend the club rules to ensure that club membership becomes a much simpler process in the future and ensures a broader representation. The Board is taking advice on this matter to ensure that it is attended to quickly and comprehensively. Members and supporters will be kept informed as that progresses.
Please note that at the postponed AGM the agenda includes tabling of the relevant Club reports; financial statements; board nominations; and any notices of motion. In order to ensure transparency of information about the Club the board intends to circulate AGM documents to current parents of juniors; senior players; Life Members; Individual Members; and Coaches; where the Club has the current email address on its database.
We can advise that there have been no notices of motion nor any nominations for board positions; and as such the meeting will not be considering any further notices or nominations. It is important to note however that the board will be working through a process to seek candidates willing to fill vacant board positions. The board has met to consider this matter already; and is developing a process that will be considering the desired skill and experience mix to develop a board that has the appropriate qualities to drive the club forward.
Should anyone be interested in contributing at board level or provide assistance to the board/Club please contact Anne Christie atadmin@woodvillewarriors for further information.
