This week we once again run another in our series of clinics as part of the City of Charles Sturt School holiday program. These are THE sought after holiday activity in the western suburbs and 160 participants had a great afternoon on the basketball court. The club has been running these for MANY years and they just seem to keep getting bigger and better.more

CALLING ALL UNDER 12 GIRLS

As part of Magic's expanding team numbers for the upcoming summer season we have opportunities for girls born in 2007/2008. The clubs reputation for developing players in both the skills of the game as well as what it takes to play a team sport is unmatched....contact the club if you have someone interested. U12 BOYS - GOOD REASONS TO BE PROUD

David's boys have excelled during the past season and can hold their heads high coming in as close runners up in the grand final. The excitement of playing in games like this will stay with them for a long timemore

U10 BOYS GREAT EFFORT TO BE RUNNERS UP

Matt's boys have put in a fantastic effort all season to get themselves into the grand final......runners up is not a bad result.....being there is the reward for the hard work.more

U12 GIRLS KEEPING UP THE GOOD WORK

Shaun's U12 girls keep going from strength to strength. Not only last years St Clair carnival as well as the Bearcats carnival, but also both summer and winter seasons. What a great job by everyone involved.more

U18 BOYS GET THE JOB DONE

This is a team that has come ahead in leaps and bounds over the last two seasons. During this seasons grand final they played with skill and control and got the win in a very closely contested game. Well done Coach Nigel and a great team of "boys".more

GRAND FINALS HERE WE COME

It is show time this weekend with 4 teams having made it to grand finals. Friday evening sees the U18 boys at Wayville, 9pm. Saturday is 9am at Pasadena for the U10 boys, 10am at Wayville for the U12 boys and 8.30 at Wayville for the U12 girls. Get out to as many games as possible and help get these teams over the line. THE FINAL'S CAMPAIGN CONTINUES

A number of teams continue to enjoy success, advancing through to the next round of finals. Best of luck to the U10 boys(8.30 am Sept 16 Pasadena), U12 boys (8.30 am Sept 16 Port Adelaide), U12 girls (8.30 am, Sept 16 Pt Adelaide) and U18 boys (9.00 pm Sept 22 Wayville) and they continue their campaigns. MAGIC NOW OFFERING AUSSIE HOOPS

Western Magic is now offering an Aussie Hoops program, commencing on Sept 19th from 4.30 to 5.30 pm at The Parks Sports and Rec Centre. This firmly establishes our club as offering the best range of entry level opportunities for both boys and girls. The club has multiple teams competing in the Under 8 Junior Domestic Competition (JDC) that is played at the St Clair Rec Centre on Saturday afternoon. CONGRATULATIONS CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL TEAMS

Western Magic had great representation in the 40th St Clair Christmas Carnival. Lots of teams made it to the finals....Congratulations players, coaches, parents and supporters.....now it is time for a break.more

MAGIC vs YORKERS

The inaugural Magic vs Yorke Valley Basketball Association was a big success. A couple of great games were played in good spirit, with the Yorkers taking the shield home with them after some well deserved wins. This was the first of an annual event, Magic is already looking forward to next years challenge in Kadina....2017.more

WELL DONE TEAMS AT THE NUNAWADING CARNIVAL

The Melbourne based Nunawading Spectres Basketball Club run what may well be the largest and most eagerly anticipated junior basketball tournament in the country. Western Magic is always well represented at this event, and this year is no exception. CONGRATULATIONS U18 GIRLS

After going undefeated in the lead up games in the SA Junior State Championships, the U18 girls team narrowly missed out on a grand final win. Fantastic effort all weekend by the girls, coach Allan Bell and all of the supporters that cheered them on.more

A big thank you to McDonalds Croydon for supporting the club with Achievement Award certificates for players. These will be used to recognise players efforts, and provide some healthy food vouchers and AMF bowling discounts. WESTERN MAGIC VISITS INGLE FARM

A group of Magic players, ranging from U12 to U16 visited Ingle Farm Rec Centre to train with and play against a number of teams that are part of the Salisbury Talented Athletes Academy. It was a great time, with a series of 30minute games being played, lots of good close competition. Magic prides itself in broad community engagement and we are at it once again !!!!more

At the successful St Clair Waugh in the West community cricket match, Premier Jay Weatherill dropped in to the Magic BBQ tent and joined in the fun.more

WELL DONE CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL TEAMS

A great job by all of the players, coaches, parents and supporters over the weekend of the 2015 St Clair Christmas carnival. This was a fun and well organised event as usual....plenty of players have an extra trophy to add to their collections at home.more

Huge effort by this team over the course of the season, something that Sam and the boys can be very proud of !!! Runner up in the grand final to a better team on the day.....nothing wrong with that.more

In a major round that has been full of really close 2 and 3 point margins, the U14 girls turned the tables on that and dominated for the duration of the game....well done !!!more

Yet another great effort...the team got into a little foul trouble, but still put in a fantastic game.more

Well done to Jarrad's U12 girls team, winning a one point nail biter to take out the grand final. They have had a great season, all the girls have put in a huge effort under Jarrod's expert guidance. A well deserved win.more

WELL DONE TEAMS IN THE BEARCATS CARNIVAL

Congratulations to all of our teams that entered into the Bearcat's carnival over the weekend of July 11/12. Nathan's U14 girls team continued their winning ways and bought home top honours. Roger and an U18 girls team narrowly missed out on a grand final win....great effort !!! Trev's under 10's did well with some close games, a win and even some extra time in a nail-biter! CONGRATULATIONS NUNAWADING GRAND FINALISTS

Nathan's U14 girls team ventured across the boarder to take on the big guns from the eastern states. This competition is always tough but the girls dug deep and put in a great effort to get into their grand final. Coming runners up in the Nunawading Carnival is a great achievement. CONGRATULATIONS STATE CHAMPS PARTICIPANTS

A big congratulations on our teams that did really well in the state championships. One of our U18 girls teams made it all the way through to the grand final, missed out on the big prize, but did themselves proud. U12 girls narrowly missed out on final, coming third in their competition. A great effort to all of the players, coaches and parents who tirelessly supported their children.more

SPORTS VOUCHER PROGRAM

The SA Govt has introduced a scheme that provides each child through to year 7 at school, a $50 voucher towards the payment of sporting club fees. If you have a child at school you should hear about this very soon, if not please ask them about it. Magic is registering for this scheme, you will be able to us the voucher towards your winter playing fees www.sportsvouchers.sa.gov.au/#registermore

STARPLEX CARNIVAL CONGRATULATIONS

A big congratulations to Roger and his U18 girls team that took out their grade at the Australia Day long weekend Starplex carnival. We do not often have a lot of teams in this event as it is at a very tricky time of the year to organise players, but our girls flew the Western Magic flag in the best possible way. Information enclosed for the range of carnivals in which we can enter teams in SA and Vic....both junior and senior. Many require that you plan well ahead, particularly to secure appropriate accommodation. Note that the club has a policy on entering carnivals such as these.more
