2017 U14/18 Junior Country Championships Results and Award Winners

16th March, 2017

2017 Junior Country Championships

SA Country would like to thank all of the participating players, coaches, managers, referees and score bench officials for their support of the U14 & U18 Junior Country Championships held in Adelaide on 11th – 13th March, 2017.

In particular, we would be lost without the efforts of Beth Serle, Sharon Venn, Graham Catto and Elyse Hicks who managed venues for the weekend as well as the assistance provided to them by a great number of volunteers throughout the weekend.

The work in preparation for the weekend takes several weeks and Beth Serle, Sharon Venn and Elyse Hicks are thanked and congratulated on their outstanding work in all areas.

We would also like to acknowledge the support of our sponsors; City Holden, Sports Centre and Spalding. Their support allows us to keep nomination fees to a minimum and improves the quality of the event.

Thank you also to Forestville, Sturt and Southern Tigers clubs for their support through provision of canteen and barbecue facilities at the venues and to Sports Medicine Australia for the Sports Trainers.

Lastly, most importantly, thank you to the Associations and all families for their support of the event.

17 Divisions of competition saw the following;

  • 11 Associations won Championships with Mount Gambier (4), Barossa (2), Whyalla (2), Light (2)
  • A further 14 Associations played in Grand Finals
  • 25 Associations nominated teams
  • 114 teams competed

Congratulations to Alyssa Duncan from Mount Gambier and Shelbie Lee Sutcliffe from Barossa Valley on being awarded the Trisha Flett Memorial Trophy for MVP in the U14 Girls Division 1 competition.

An update is included below on the John Spooner trophy, with a winner to be confirmed following the under 12 and 16 Championships this weekend.
