Fennell Back to Light the Fire

In the NBL1’s inaugural season, Fennell was a shining light for the Hawks averaging an impressive 16 points per game to go with 9 rebounds and just over 2 assists. Fennell was one of the team’s anchors and was only one of four Hawks who were able to play every game in the 20 game regular season.

“He is reliable; he is always a scoring threat and plays the game with great passion.” Hawks Assistant Coach Damien Smith said.

“Matty is a huge part of our Club and we will need him at his best next year.”

Fennell was a popular target in the off season for rival NBL1 Clubs but chose to stay a Hawks, a club that he has come to love.

“I just love playing with this group of guys, there is never a dull moment.” Fennell said.

“And with a few minor changes I think we have a chance to be pretty good next season.”

The signing of Fennell is a huge key for the Hawks who have already locked in Imports Tim Guers and Ricardo Martin plus Australian born CJ Asuncion-Byrd and veteran Nathan Truman.
