Farnworth Back To Fire The Hawks
Just prior to the start of the Ringwood Hawks Women’s 2019 NBL1 season, Coach Tim Mottin quietly added New Zealand International Toni Farnworth to his roster. After an outstanding season in which Farnworth was anything but quiet, the Hawks announced this week her return for 2020.
Although you could argue that Farnworth is quiet off the court, it took just three weeks in to the 2019 season for her to grab the headlines. The six foot guard set the League alight with some massive scoring games including a 32 point explosion at Diamond Valley and 25 against the Centre of Excellence. She also had a memorable 29 against the highly rated Geelong Supercats in leading her team to an upset win.
By the end of the season, Farnworth averaged an eye catching 18.1 points per game to go with 6 rebounds and 3.2 assists. She won the team Most Valuable Player award and was a popular figure around the Club.
With the Hawks surprising everyone by finishing the season in third place, Farnworth sees plenty of potential for the team to again be at the right end of the ladder come finals time.
“We have a team that likes to share the ball and play together.” Farnworth said.
“It is exciting to be back for another season and with a new addition or two we will be pretty good I think.”
The Hawks will have more player announcements coming up soon as all NBL1 teams are busy sorting their rosters for what promises to be a massive NBL1 season.
