The Ringwood Hawks will celebrate a rare achievement on Saturday night with the 300th Game of Club Legend Shaun Clarke.
Clarke grew up developing through the Hawks junior program and eventually became a star at Big V and NBL1 level. He did head off the College Basketball in America spending 2 years at Pensacola College in Florida but has not played with another Club in Australia.
“He is not just a great player but he is truly one of the great people of Basketball in Victoria.” Hawks Head Coach Ken Harrington said.
“He was often underrated by other teams but he was never underrated by his Coaches and teammate. We knew of his unselfishness, team first attitude and greatness.”
Clarke will have his a large replica Number 24 singlet hung from the rafters of the Rings stadium joining current teammate Matt Snow and former teammate Willie Weimer who also reached the 300 game milestone.
The Hawks will face Sandringham Sabres next Saturday night at the Rings stadium and will need to deliver as they are currently on a 4 game losing streak.
“We have a good record of playing well in milestone games.” Harrington said.
“We are desperate for a win and we need to honor Shauny so I would hope we are ready to put our best foot forward.”
