It was a close and entertaining first half between Wynyard and Burnie women. Unfortunately Burnie’s team play dropped completely away in the second half with Wynyard running out comfortable winners.

In front of a good crowd, Penguin run out winners by only 3 points over Devonport women in a high standard game. This was an important win for Penguin to keep their chance alive of getting top spot. Rebecca Abel was the standout player scoring a game high 20 points.

The undefeated Ulverstone women’s team had their first loss to an impressive Somerset outfit. After quarter time, Ulverstone could not handle Somerset’s defensive intensity, losing by 36 points. Sami Phillips once again dominated with 27 points.

Latrobe women managed their first win for the season over Smithton. Although both teams shot poorly it was Latrobe’s dominance on the boards that contributed to their victory. Smithton’s Angel Clark led all scorers with 20 points.

Burnie men turned up to play and had a convincing 47 point victory over Wynyard. In a very good team effort, Burnie’s Isaac Plant played his best game, with a top score of 20 points.

Penguin men managed to hold off a fast finishing Devonport team, for a 3 point victory. In a high scoring, fast paced game, Penguin’s experienced got them over the line. Devonport is starting to match it with the better teams and will cause a few upsets. Devonport’s Matt Beuermann was the top scorer with 27 points.

In front of a good crowd, Ulverstone stepped on the gas in the second half to record a 24 point victory over a disappointing Somerset team. Ulverstone controlled the rebounding and shot at a good clip.

Down by 13 points at three-quarter time the Smithton Saints made a late charge against the impressive Latrobe men’s team to go down by 5 points. Latrobe’s rebounding and Smithton’s high turn-over rate was the difference.

Preview Tuesday 11^th Oct.

Ulverstone make the trip to Smithton. The Ulverstone women will be keen to atone for their poor performance in their last game. They should easily account for the young Smithton team.

Ulverstone will start favourite in the men’s game. However, if the Saints have their full squad they are more than capable of causing an upset.

Latrobe host Wynyard. The Wynyard women are starting to find good form and will dominate this game.

The Latrobe men should have little difficulty against the young Wildcats.

Somerset are at home to Penguin. The women’s game will be most entertaining. Somerset have had some comprehensive victories of late and will start favourites. The contest between Bec Abel and Sami Phillips will be the highlight of the game.

Penguin will have a percentage boosting win against the Somerset men, whose form has dropped away.

Devonport travel to Burnie. The Devonport women will be too good for Burnie.

The Burnie men, if they bring their A-game should defeat Devonport, however, Devonport are more than capable of causing an upset.
