Under 22 Preview - Tuesday 13th September

NWBU Slogan

Penguin are at home to Ulverstone. The women’s game will be the game of the round. Both teams are the early title favourites. Ulverstone will need to restrict the scoring ability of Rebecca Abel and will rely heavily on Shelby Rayner and Sarah O’Neill, if they are going to get the points.

Penguin will start favourites in the men’s game. Penguin’s experience and the ability to score heavily beyond the three point line will cause headaches for Ulverstone’s defence. Penguins, Fraser Eaton and Ryan Cook have both started the season in great form.

Burnie has the trip to Latrobe. The women’s game should be close, however, Burnie will have too much firepower in Rebecca Heald and Hayley Shepherd, while Latrobe will rely heavily on Brooke Brown for their scoring. Burnie should come away with a win.

The men’s game will be an excellent contest. Latrobe has the team to stop Burnie’s title run. Latrobe have Alex Triffett and Mitchell Pulford in very good form and without Joe Chilcott, Latrobe will be favourites.

Devonport has the long road trip to Smithton. The Devonport women should account for the young Saints line up. If Taylor Mole makes the trip from Hobart, it will be a long night for the Smithton girls.

Both Smithton and Devonport have very young and exciting squads. This will be a very face paced game. The Warriors will need Matt Zerna to be suiting up if they are going to be a chance for victory.

Wynyard host Somerset in what should be a close women’s game. The Wynyard women did a good job last week and if they can curb the scoring ability of Sami Phillips, a win is possible.

Somerset men should be far too strong for the inexperienced Wildcats. Lachlan Barker will cause many problems for Wynyard’s defence, while point guard Mitchell Salter will control the game.
