ROUND 7 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Despite his side going 1-1 for the weekend, Brett Stibners of the Wollongong Roller Hawks is the Round 7 Player of the Week courtesy of two near triple-double games.

Averaging 23.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, nine assists and 1.5 steals, Stibners helped the Roller Hawks pinch a game against the defending champs Kilsyth on Saturday night before the Cobras narrowly got their revenge on Sunday.

With the game tied in the second term of that first clash, Stibners helped Wollongong to a six-point advantage at the main break with 10 points in the quarter.

Then, in a dominant third period in which the Cobras were out-scored 21-6, the forward added six points of his own to finish with 28 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists.

Stibners carried that form into the second game on Sunday, recording four points and four assists in the opening quarter as the Roller Hawks opened up an eight-point advantage.

He was then influential again in the final term, finishing with another five points and four boards to finish with 19 points, 13 rebounds and four assists despite Kilsyth eventually running over the top of them.

Splitting the weekend was still enough for Wollongong to move into third spot on the ladder. Stibners will finish a training camp in Canberra with the Rollers this week before returning for Wollongong's final games against the Sydney Metro Blues on June 10, 11 and 12.
