ROUND 3 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Leading the Kilsyth Cobras to two victories over the Wollongong Rollerhawks, their first losses of the season, and claiming two triple-doubles, Tristan Knowles has been named the Round 3 Player of the Week.

The Aussie Roller finished with an average of 23.7 points, 10.7 rebounds and 11.3 assists over three contests as Kilsyth inched closer to the top of the ladder while also staking their claim as a Championship contender.

On Friday night, the Cobras fell to Wollongong by 21 points with the Rollerhawks maintaining their winning streak to open the season.

Knowles still paced Kilsyth with 20 points, knocking down three three-pointers in the process while adding seven rebounds, eight assists and two blocks which both came on Michael Auprince.

The following day, he improved those numbers across the board with 26 points, 14 boards, 14 assists and a steal while playing every minute of the second meeting.

Kilsyth bounced back from the night before to lead by a point at half-time and Knowles then exploded with 13 points and two assists in the third quarter, out-scoring Wollongong who only managed seven points for the term.

Knowles then notched the triple-double in the last quarter with five more assists as the Cobras secured a massive 80-55 victory while four three-pointers kept up his hot shooting.

With the weekend series tied at 1-1, the teams met on Sunday in a decider and it was a much closer affair with Kilsyth only leading by a point at three-quarter time.

Knowles was well on his way to a triple-double at half-time with ten points, seven rebounds and eight assists but had been kept relatively quiet on the scoreboard which helped Wollongong stay in touch.

He came out of the main break on a mission though, scoring Kilsyth’s first four points of the third quarter and finished with eight for the period to give his side that one-point edge.

The lead changed hands a few times in the fourth period before Knowles scored five straight for the Cobras including another three-pointer to give the visitors some breathing room.

With three points the difference inside the last ten seconds, Wollongong were then forced to foul Kilsyth and Knowles sealed the five-point victory from the free-throw line, capping off another outstanding game with 25 points, 11 boards, 12 assists and one steal.

Tristan Knowles Round 3 Stats: 23.7 points on 28-58 (48%) shooting including 9-22 (41%) three-point shooting, 10.7 rebounds (1.3 offensive) and 11.3 assists per game.
