In the middle of the NWBL finals last weekend, the end of season accolades were announced at the Awards Lunch on Saturday afternoon.

Jannik Blair of Red Dust earned the Low-Point MVP after averaging 7.8 points per game in the most productive season of his career, helping the Heelers to make the finals.

The season’s top scorer, Be Active Perth Wheelcats’ Shaun Norris, was awarded the Mid-Point MVP having finished the season with a ridiculous triple-double average of 31.3 points, 11.3 rebounds and 11.3 assists.

He shot at 46% from the field and hit more three-pointers than any other player with a season-high 52 points coming against Wollongong in early May.

Tristan Knowles of the Kilsyth Cobras rounded out the three MVP winners, taking home the High-Point MVP.

Leading the Cobras to back-to-back Championships, Knowles finished third in the league for scoring with 27 points per game and second for assists with 10.9 while adding 6.3 rebounds.

Proving his worth and leadership, the high-pointer excelled in the Grand Final as he recorded a triple double while shooting 55% from the field.

In addition to those three players, Brett Stibners and Luke Pople from the Wollongong Roller Hawks made up the All-Star Five.

Stibners (27.3 points per game) was the second most potent scorer in the competition and has now averaged at least 20 points per game in seven of his past eight seasons.

Shooting 53% for the year, Pople was Wollongong’s second best scorer with 16 points a game while he was also highly effective at getting to the free throw line, hitting 33 from the charity stripe (fifth best in the league) at 73%.

In their return to the league in 2016, the Wheelcats had an exceptional season and Kelvin Browner earned Coach of the Year as he led the side back into the playoffs where they won a silver medal.
