Rollers to meet USA in Paralympic Semi Final

In a brilliant display by the reigning Paralympic Gold Medallists, the Rollers burst out of the blocks to lead 26-11 at the end of the first quarter on the back of a 16-4 run to start the game.

Captain Brad Ness saved his most dominant performance of the tournament for the knockout stage, leading all scorers with 26 points and 5 rebounds, to see this troops continue their journey to back-to-back Gold Medals.

As they have all tournament the Rollers had plenty of offensive options, with Justin Eveson (13 points, 6 assists), Shaun Norris (11 points, 5 rebounds) and Tristan Knowles (13 points, 4 assists) putting up double digit points.

The game fizzled out after the opening quarter blowout, with the Rollers able to control the contest and build the final margin beyond 20 points.

The Rollers face a USA team without a Gold Medal in men’s wheelchair basketball since 1988 and without a medal of any colour since 2000, with confidence already high in the Australian camp after easily accounting for the Americans in their preliminary match.

It will be a big day in London for Australian-American basketball with the Rollers and Gliders in Semi Final action, with the Aussies eager to avenge the defeats dished out to our Boomers and Opals in London at the Olympic Games less than a month ago.
