ROUND 3 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Only arriving in Round 2 for the Sydney Metro Blues, import Joseph Chambers is setting the competition on fire and has earned the Round 3 Player of the Week following a dazzling offensive display last weekend.

An American who has been the Paralympics and World Championships with the USA national team, Chambers led the Blues to a sweep of Adelaide with an average of 44.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, five assists and three steals.

He did all that work in just 24.5 minutes coming off the bench and is proving to be a very handy addition to a side that is coming off a winless 2016.

On Saturday night, Chambers hit 23-27 from the field for 47 points, almost out-scoring the Thunder’s total of 53 while he helped the Blues to a massive 78 points in the paint.

Only one of his makes in the first half came from outside the key but with his confidence growing as the game wore on, he knocked down another six shots from beyond the paint as Adelaide had no answer for him.

Chambers was consistent throughout the contest, scoring 21 points in the first half on the back of a 12-point second term before adding 14 and 12 in the third and fourth periods respectively.

The following day, Chambers did not cool off as he added another game-high 42 points combined with eight boards, seven assists and four steals.

He hit 21-27 from the field but his impact on the scoreboard was not limited to his own shooting, with three offensive rebounds leading to four points and seven assists leading to a further 13 points.

It will be interesting to see how the Blues approach Chambers in the coming weeks as he is obviously working quite well off the bench but could prove even more damaging with more court time.

Joseph Chambers Round 3 Stats: 44.5 points on 44-54 shooting (81%), 7.5 rebounds (two offensive), five assists and three steals per game.
