2016 TEAM PREVIEW: RED DUST HEELERS

Last Year: 11 wins, 4 losses- 2nd

Roster: Georgia Inglis, Kathleen O’Kelly-Kennedy, Adam Deans, Derek Richards, Dianne Cowen, Ryan Morich, Clare Nott, Jannik Blair, Rob Pike, Corey Lawton, Jake Kavanagh, Brad Ness, Tony Wade, Jade Richards.

Fixture:
Red Dust’s three opening games of the season through the Cluster Round are against fellow 2015 finalists which will give the side a good indication of where they are headed this year. With their bye coming in Round 8, the Heelers could enjoy a break right before the finals kick off.

Overview:
With a standout first season under their belt, the Heelers should capitalise on last year’s success and once again compete for the Championship. In what could be Brad Ness' swan song in the NWBL, he will provide on-court and off-court knowledge to young guns Jannik Blair, Ryan Morich and Adam Deans as player/coach in 2016. In the mid points, Jake Kavanagh has changed his chair setup and will provide the outside shooting presence needed to open up the middle for the big’s. Veterans Rob Pike, Tony Wade and Clare Nott will be vital to the team’s success as they look to go one step further than last season.

One To Watch:
Jannik Blair is available for the Cluster Round this weekend and as a silver medallist with the Australian Rollers, he is set to have a big year. Alongside team mate Adam Deans, they could fill two of the spots in the All-League selection at the end of the year.

Outside Chance:
If he can find room on his mantelpiece, Brad Ness could add Coach of the Year to his already numerous awards.

Prediction:
Second-Third.
