2016 TEAM PREVIEW: BE ACTIVE PERTH WHEELCATS

Last Year: N/A

Roster: Shaun Norris, Michael Hartnett, Andrew Liddawi, Kayl Jeffery, Andrew Dewberry, Kim Robins, Sarah Vinci, Amber Merritt, Chihiro Kitada, Thomas McHugh.

Fixture:
Following the Cluster Round to open the season, the Wheelcats head home for a double-header at the Bendat Basketball Centre in Round 2. They also enjoy a nice finish to the regular season, with a bye in Round 7 meaning they play only two games in the last month.

Overview:
Coach Kevin Browner’s team will be relishing the underdog status that now tags this storied franchise as one of the most successful teams in NWBL history has struggled to maintain their dominance in recent years.

Perth look like they will be reliant on the likes of Shaun Norris, Kim Robins and Andrew Dewberry whose ability to hit the scoreboard and push the pace will make them a threat. Sarah Vinci and Amber Merritt are also Australian Gliders and will bring an excitement factor to the team but with an overall lack of experience in the side, finals may be a reach this year.

One To Watch:
Andrew Dewberry is an exciting prospect. As the third option in the offence, he will feed off his mentor Shaun Norris and should be able to respond with some highlight performances.

Outside Chance:
Shaun Norris will average a triple double this season, leading him to rack up an umpteenth NWBL MVP award.

Prediction:
Fourth-Sixth
