2016 TEAM PREVIEW: SYDNEY METRO BLUES

Last Year: 2 wins, 13 losses- 5th

Roster: Colin Smith, Darren Skuse, Josh Meoli, Ben Meoli, Clarence McCarthy-Grogan, Jay Dohnt, Jess Cronje, Georgia Munro-Cook, Yarra Ryan, Anderson Parker, Richard Engles, Kylie Gauci, Rhys Baxter, Sarah Stewart.

Fixture:
Sydney Metro have been helped along by the Cluster Round being held in New South Wales while the end of the regular season is also advantageous as they play the last round, including a bye, at Menai and Minto Indoor Sports Centres.

Overview:
After a long season in 2015 that saw the Blues win just two games, there is some light at the end of the tunnel in the way of personnel. Coach Troy Sachs, a veteran of five Paralympic campaigns and a two-time gold medallist, will lead a core group of CJ Grogan, Rhys Baxter and Kylie Gauci. Jay Dohnt joins the team and will provide some much needed height and speed in the mid-point ranks while Darren Skuse returns after several years away from the league. He is a big man who will help in the paint which will be a handy weapon against teams like Wollongong and Red Dust that possess strong forwards.

One To Watch:
In what will be a long season, the play of junior Anderson Parker could be a shining light. Consistently averaging around five points a game in his NWBL career while shooting 40% from the field, Parker also loves to crash the glass and will provide a presence under the rim.

Outside Chance:
As sad as it would be, the Blues are still going to have a tough season and although last year will have strengthened their resolve, a season in which they do not bother the win column is an outside chance in 2016.

Prediction:

Fifth-Sixth
