A mini-round this weekend will see just two teams hit the court but the series between Red Dust and the Wheelcats will have significant impact on the shape of the top four.

The Heelers have won three of their past four games following an impressive performance last round and a successful series against the Wheelcats could see them pull equal with fourth-placed Queensland on the ladder.

Red Dust have played the least amount of games of any team so far this season which should give them confidence that they have time to recover from their slow start and with the arrival of Aussie Roller Jannik Blair as well as Paralympic gold medalist Josh Turek, the team is on the right track.

Blair averaged 8.3 points, four rebounds and five assists per game through Round 4 as he slotted back into the line-up with ease while Turek dominated the offensive floor with 32.8 points and 11.8 rebounds while shooting 63% from the field.

With Jake Kavanagh and Brad Ness keeping the scoreboard ticking along as well, the Heelers are well-placed to battle Perth who have four players averaging over nine points per game this season.

Shaun Norris (29.5 points per game) will look to match Turek’s offensive output and will need the likes of Kim McHugh and Andrew Dewberry to be at their best but Norris’ work in the paint and on the glass will be just as crucial against the strong Heelers forwards.

Thomas McHugh is averaging close to a double-double this season, increasing his rebound numbers from 5.9 to 9.0 but this series against Red Dust will be a good test for him.

If those players can fire, the Wheelcats will be able to consolidate their top-two position but with only two games left in their regular season after this weekend, they could be in trouble of missing the playoffs if things do not go their way in Round 4.
