ROUND 7 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The Be Active Perth Wheelcats have kept their 2017 playoff hopes alive with two victories over Adelaide and Shaun Norris’ performances have led him to claim the Round 7 Player of the Week.

Needing two wins to stay in touch with the top four, the Wheelcats claimed every quarter on Saturday night to succeed 75-46.

Norris played only 27 minutes but scored 19 points to go with a game-high 13 assists as he contributed 45 of Perth’s total from his own hand.

He pulled down six rebounds and had four steals which helped the Wheelcats score 33 points off turnovers while he also knocked down the only three-pointer of the contest.

That offensive production was no match for his performance on Sunday though as Norris flirted with a quadruple-double in a big 50-point victory over the Thunder.

He tallied 50 points himself, 36 more than any other player, and combined that with 11 rebounds, 13 assists, eight steals and a block.

He shot 21-31 (67%) from the field including 3-7 from long distance in an exceptional game that proved Perth will be a serious threat if they can reach the post-season.

Right from the opening tip, Norris was aggressive as he scored 14 points by quarter-time, out-scoring the Thunder by himself.

He repeated that feat in the second term with another 14 points while he was well on his way to a triple-double with seven rebounds (three offensive) and six assists.

A flurry to end the first half gave the Wheelcats full control of the contest, as Norris found Kim Robins for two, pulled down a defensive board and then fed Andrew Dewberry, knocked down a three-pointer of his own and then had a steal and lay-up to beat the buzzer all in the space of the last two minutes.

The Roller then kept the pressure on at the defensive end in the third period and closed within reach of a quadruple-double by the final change with 37 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and eight steals.

The triple-double was achieved with 6:54 remaining but with the game well and truly sewn up, Norris was subbed out in the final two minutes to culminate one of the top performances of the season.

Shaun Norris Round 7 Stats: 34.5 points on 28-48 (58%) shooting including 4-10 three-point shooting, 8.5 rebounds (two offensive), 13 assists and six steals per game.
