Star performers:

The usually super consistent Luke Watkins found it tough going against the Perth bigs but there was plenty of support from Scott Cowley and Adam Rooke. Scott Crowley has been around for some time and is Adelaide’s on court leader but Adam Rooke has taken his game to and new level this year. He’s pushing his chair really well and given the opportunity, Adam Rooke is a very polished finisher.

While he doesn’t light up the stats sheet due to the nature of the position he plays, Sam White has also been outstanding this year, putting in performances of a player well beyond his two years’ experience.

Report Card:

Plenty to like about Adelaide and the way they are playing their basketball. They’ve been outclassed by more experienced teams on occasions but there is plenty of upside to the Thunder.

Beau Buckley has probably gone a little bit under the radar this season but the big tall left hander has a massive amount of potential. Buckley is a very raw mature age rookie so he already has the size and physical presence to match it with some of the other of the NWBL’s bigs and will only benefit from another 12 months in his chair.

The Thunder were unlucky not to take a game off the Wheelkings this past round after controlling much of the first half in game one of their double header. Three of their four games remaining against Victoria that’s a team they match up quite well against.

They should take plenty of confidence away from the season so far; despite being winless their rookies have shown enough to suggest that Adelaide is developing the nucleus of a top four NWBL side.
