ROUND 2 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Helping the Kilsyth Cobras to sweep a back-to-back against the Red Dust Heelers and maintain their spot atop the NWBL ladder, Tristan Knowles has earned Player of the Week for Round 2.
The Australian Roller scored an efficient 13 points in their first clash with Perth, hitting 6-7 from the field while dishing out seven of the team’s 14 assists.
Leading by only three points at the main break, the Cobras put the Heelers to the sword in a 19-9 third term and Knowles was the catalyst at the offensive end, dishing out four assists to go with two points.
The following day, the swingman again played every minute of the contest, putting up a game-high 26 shot attempts to finish with 36 points, six rebounds and nine assists.
He nailed all three three-pointers that Kilsyth made for the game and helped his team overcome an eight-point deficit at the first change to win by a point.
He scored nine of the Cobras’ eleven points for the opening term and then brought his team mates into the match with 13 points and three assists in the second quarter.
Holding only a three-point lead with 2:30 remaining, Knowles pulled Kilsyth over the line with five points and three assists, including three clutch free-throws down the stretch to secure the win.
Heading into a league-wide bye round due to the Kevin Coombs Cup, Kilsyth have gotten themselves in a very solid position to defend their 2015 title, six games into the year.
