2016 TEAM PREVIEW: RSL QUEENSLAND SPINNING BULLETS

Last Year: 7 wins, 8 losses- 4th

Roster: Matthew McShane, Tige Simmons, Nick Radovich, Brent Geritz, Kurt Thomson, Tom Holland-Roach, Ben Smith, Jason Holohan, Steven Elliott, Dylan Gawthorne, Daniel Anstey, Jordan Bartley, Bill Latham, Rod McPherson, Ben Grice, Jake Fulwood, Tom O’Neill-Thorne, Shannon Buxton, Bailey Rowland.

Fixture:
The Spinning Bullets will utilise a bye following the Cluster Round, helping them to recover before they face the Metro Blues twice in the final round in a potentially nice lead-up into the finals.

Overview:
Following a four-five year stretch of solid development under coach Tom Kyle, the Spinning Bullets found themselves in the 2014 Grand Final. They were unable to repeat that performance last year though, mainly due to a few unavailable players.

However, the inclusion of Australian Rollers Bill Latham and Tom O’Neill-Thorne could return them to glory this season and they will be joined by a strong supporting cast in Matt McShane, Bailey Rowland, Jake Fulwood and the evergreen Tige Simmons. The key will be minimising the early carnage on the boards as they wait for Latham and Bartley to return from overseas duties.

One To Watch:
McShane and Simmons are in solid form and should wreak havoc on fast breaks and in the open floor. If they play an up-tempo style of play that suits them, the Spinning Bullets could be the quickest team in the league.

Outside Chance:
A season off and with nothing but basketball to focus on, Tom O’ Neill-Thorne could challenge for the league MVP in season 2016.

Prediction:
Third-Fourth
