MATCH REPORT: Be Active Perth Wheelcats vs Victoria

The Be Active Perth Wheelcats remain the only undefeated team after round 1 with a 82-57 win over Victoria.

The score line probably didn’t reflect how close this game was. After a defensive tussle the Wheelcats took a narrow 4 point lead into half time but blew the game apart with a 30-10 third quarter. Justin Eveson finished one assist short of a triple double while Shaun Norris (37) and Kim Robins (18) were the beneficiaries of some off the ball work from Andrew Liddawi and Michael Hartnett.

Victoria leave the weekend with a record of 2-1 and a likely share of second place on the NWBL ladder. Off season recruits Shawn Russell and Tristan Knowles have fit into the Victorian team well and will only benefit from more time together as a team. Make no mistake, despite today’s loss, if Victoria’s performances this weekend are anything to go by, the will be a real championship threat in 2014.
