NWBL Finals are Finally Here
Get ready for edge of your seat action as the top four wheelchair basketball teams in Australia take the court at the NWBL Finals from Friday 30 August to Sunday 1 September at the prestigious Lefevre Community Stadium, 541 Victoria Rd, Osborne, South Australia.
Many of the players that made up the Rollers Paralympic silver medal winning team will be coming from all over Australia to compete at the NWBL Finals. The Be Active Perth Wheelcats finished the season in first place and undefeated and will be playing off against the Wollongong Roller Hawks – champions in 2011 and 2012. The other semi-final will be a hotly contested battle between the RSL Queensland Spinning Bullets and Victoria in what will no doubt be a superb game after their close round 7 clash.

“I hope the stadium will be packed with vocal supporters, but for those who can’t make it there, the 2013 NWBL Finals will be filmed and televised on Aurora Community Channel. Having televised coverage will highlight the excitement and speed of a brilliant spectator sport. It is definitely thrilling to watch, as wheelchair basketball is not only faster than able-bodied, the wheelchair is considered part of the body and can be used to block a player. This really demonstrates the player’s skill and manoeuvrability.”

This is the last NWBL event of the 2013 calendar. This is a fantastic opportunity to come and support our elite athletes and also see future Rollers players in action before the U23 squad heads off to the World Championships in Adana, Turkey on the 5th September. The Finals will surely give all sports fans a close up opportunity to see the world’s best players in action.
