Ben Harvey re-signs with Braves for 2016 Season
HARVEY IS SET FOR SEASON 2016
Ben Harvey is set to return for his seventh season as Head Coach of the Bendigo Bank Braves in the 2016 SEABL competition. The South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) is the second highest basketball league in Australia.
Harvey is one of the most decorated individuals to have ever been involved within the SEABL. He played 328 games for North West Tasmania, Hobart, Albury/Wodonga and Bendigo during a career that saw him average 11.37 points, 5.97 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game. Harvey also has his number 4 singlet retired above the Bendigo Stadium show court. As a player Ben was a part of three conference championships and five national championships.
As a coach Harvey has taken Bendigo to four conference finals in six seasons, winning two and progressing to the national final.
“I am really excited to be a part of the braves again next season. We were very close last year and I like to think that we will be competitive in striving for a national championship” Harvey said.
Chairperson of the Bendigo Braves Committee, Nigel Starick said “It’s great to have Ben as the head coach of the Bendigo Bank Braves for another season; he knows the program well and is one of the basketball icons in Bendigo”.
The 2016 Bendigo Bank Braves season will commence in April next year with try outs being held at the end of November in 2015.
