The Warrandyte Basketball Association and the wider Big V basketball community wish to congratulate Josh Smith on reaching 250 Big V games when he suits up against Sunbury this Sunday afternoon.
This is Josh’s first season with Warrandyte, but he has been in the league now for a remarkable 13 seasons.
His career started back in 2005 at Bulleen where he played for 3 years. Josh then moved to Sherbrooke in 2008, where he called the Suns home for 8 seasons. Starting out in Division 1, it was in 2010 that Sherbrooke was promoted to State Championship and Josh’s skills were on display at the highest level. Unfortunately, though, a championship title eluded him. With the demise of Sherbrooke, Josh moved to Pakenham in Division 2 in 2016, before moving to where he is now in Division 1 at Warrandyte.
In the short time Josh has been with Warrandyte, he has had an enormous impact on the team and he is a big reason for our early success. Although hampered by injury, Josh’s influence on the sidelines at trainings and games has been a big asset to the team. To see him work hard to overcome his injury has been inspirational to those around him. Having Josh back on court for the second half of the season will be a massive boost to our team.
Josh is highly respected by his teammates and coaches, and we all applaud him on reaching this amazing milestone.
We welcome all Warrandyte supporters to join us at the Warrandyte Sports Complex this Sunday at 1:00pm to congratulate Josh on his fantastic achievement.
