SHARP SHOOTER ELLIE LOCKE BRINGS UP 150 BIG V GAMES
This weekend Ellie Locke celebrates her 150th Big V Game when she steps out for the Warrandyte Venom Youth League side. 150 games is a wonderful achievement and Ellie has had a huge impact for the Venom across many of these games. Ellie joined the Warrandyte Venom Big V program from Season 2015 having been a Bulleen junior. She is a Warrandyte local and came in to fill the void left by some point guards heading up to the Venom State Champ Women’s Side. Since her arrival she has led the team from the front and is not only a prolific scorer and organizer for her team but one of the league’s leading guards. Ellie has also suited up in a handful of SCW games this season, demonstrating her strong work ethic and desire to take her game to the next level. In Season 2016 Ellie is leading the average scoring for YL1W with 16.5 points per game and will this weekend co-captain her team in an elimination final. Coach Angela Heigh recognises the contribution of Ellie to her top of the table side and had this to say;
“In the time I have coached Ellie she has always given 110%. Ellie always gives extra effort on and off the floor and is a great role model for our younger players. A big congrats to Ellie on her 150th game! Hopefully only one of many milestones for Ellie and her basketball!”, Heigh said.
No doubt the Venom fans will get down to Warrandyte Sports Complex on Saturday night for a 7:00pm tip off to support Ellie in her milestone game and her youth league team as they play off for a chance to progress to the YL1W grand final.
