FASANOC Bids Farewell To Prominent Sports Figure

FASANOC would like to express its deepest condolences to Mrs Susie Yee and members of the Yee family after the untimely passing of prominent sports administrator Paul Yee.

Mr Yee who was heavily involved in athletics since the 70's was elected Vice President of FASANOC in 2013 and served a 2-term until March 2015.

His involvement with Team Fiji began in 1989 when he was the Athletics Section Manager to the South Pacific Games in Tonga and continued throughout until 2014..

In 1991 and 1993 he was the Section Manager for Team Fiji Athletics to Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu.

Mr Yee was also Team Fiji General Manager to the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England and Section Manager to the Glasgow, Scotland Commonwealth Games in 2014.

Mr Yee also served as Executive Chairman of the Fiji Sports Council from 2007 through to 2009.

FASANOC President Joe Rodan Snr said Mr Yee's untimely passing was a loss for not only athletics but Fiji as a whole.

Mr Yee was also part of the only Marist Brothers High School rugby team to win the Deans trophy.

FASANOC paid their respects to Mrs Yee, the current chairperson of FASANOC’s Women In Sports Commission, and her family yesterday at their residence in Banuve Street, Nasese.

The funeral service will be on Thursday October 8th, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Suva at 10 am.
