Being a STOP Champion means taking a proactive approach in life says Team Fiji Basketball representative William Qounadovu.

The 23-year-old Rewa native said being involved with healthy living and sports was not new to him.

"It just seems people take it lightly especially with the increased numbers in Non-Communicable Disease," said William.

"NCD's is the number one killer in the country and this is easily preventable as long as we take a proactive approach."

"We need to nip this killer in the bud before it goes out of control and as a STOP Champion I can make more of an impact when it comes to this issue of NCD's," he said.

William said instilling a sense of responsibility and having proactive approach was something he would like to give back to the community.

"Responsibility, discipline and taking risks is something we learn through our sports and this has easily helped me adapt to my role as a STOP Champion," he said.

William who is the youngest of six siblings said he was the only one in his family who has represented the country and it was his duty to ensure that he imparted his knowledge of healthy living and sports to his family and community.
