FASANOC President Advocates Sports

FASANOC and STOPHIV/NCD Programme were invited to be part of a three day National Youth and Sports Conference at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva.

A total of 400 youth participants from across the country were part of the conference themed 'Empowering Youth to Sustain a Nation.'

FASANOC President, Joe Rodan addressed participants on the topic of 'Sports as a Tool for Advocacy.'

He spoke on the value of sport and what sport has done for him as an individual and encouraged youth to use sport as a tool for not only health lifestyle but also for personal development and character building.

Also present at the conference were STOP Champions who were advocating on issues related to their programme which included HIV and NCD’s.

Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou in opening the conference stressed the importance of sports being a major vehicle for youth development.

"Sports will continue to be a major vehicle for youth development in Fiji as we continue to recognise its contribution to Fiji's economy, national unity and social inclusiveness," he said.

The conference ends 24th September, 2015.
