Annual General Assembly in Samoa
The Oceania National Olympic Committee (ONOC) in Samoa invited participants in the Pacific region to participate in the Annual General Assembly, which took place from the 11th to the 18th of June 2018 in Apia, Samoa.
Mike Masauvakalo, William Worwor, President of VASANOC Antoine Boudier who attended the meeting as a board member of ONOC, President of Vanuatu Tennis Federation and Oceania Tennis, Cyril Mainguy, the Secretary General, Aileen Nanga - Chef de Mission and others represented Vanuatu.
Some of the highlights of the meeting that the ONOC delegates and the IFs discussed on Wednesday and Thursday include the composition of ONOC, its Constitution, Strategic Plan (2018 – 2021), the Strategic Plan in Operation, Preparing a NOC to host a successful Regional Games using the IOC Basic Principles of Good Governance (Case Study: Solomon Islands NOC).
Other topics discussed on Thursday 14th of June include: Climate Action (Sustainable Development Goal 13), Quality Education (Sustainable Development Goal 4), Good Health & Well-Being (Sustainable Development Goal 3) Open Forum.
Worwor, a long time member of the Vanuatu Volleyball Federation was a former President of this Federation but is now a Training and HR Development Manager at the Vanuatu Meterogical Department. Mr Worwor also travelled to Apia Samoa because he was with the other pacific members who attended the ONOC meeting, to investigate the athlete’s game village and he was also part of the grand tour to the Game Venue.
The participants will be looking at the NOC’s Role in the preparation to the Games, NOCs’ Partners in the preparation to the Games and the NOCs’ responsibilities.
Different meetings took place during their stay in Samoa.
In addition, during the meeting the Samoa Olympic committee host delegates will reveal their mascot.
