Westpac First to Answer Call of 2008 Olympic Team

During the month of June, more than 170 local businesses and organisations in Samoa were sent personal invitations to enter a team in the Olympic Team Golf Tournament, and letters requesting any donations or prizes they may be able to offer for the hosting of the tournament.

This afternoon Westpac Samoa became the first business to answer the 2008 Olympic team’s call to support the athletes and officials who will travel to Beijing later this month for the Olympics.

Tu’uu Amaramo Sialaoa, Manager of Treasury & Finance for Westpac Samoa handed over a cheques for ST$1000 to Mr. Seb Kohlhase, the Chef de Mission for Samoa’s 2008 Olympic Team.

As a special incentive, the 2008 Olympic team is providing a framed, and signed official souvenir photograph of the 2008 Olympic Team for any donations totaling over ST$1000, which will be presented on the Team’s return to Samoa after the Olympics, which of course Westpac receive.

Not only did Westpac Samoa provide this generous donation, but they have also entered a team in the Olympic Team’s Golf Tournament which will be held next Saturday, the 12th of July at the Faleata Golf Course from 7am – 2pm.

On behalf of the 2008 Olympic Team, and SASNOC, Mr. Kohlhase would like to extend his heartfelt thanks to Mr. Jason Green, the Country Head of Westpac Samoa for his support as the first business to answer the call of the 2008 Olympic Team.

Mr. Kohlhase would also to like to take this opportunity to thank the many other businesses in Samoa who have already entered teams or supplied prizes for the tournament.
