Round 7 WEDNESDAY Preview: Women

By James Woite

Norwood (7-0) v Southern (2-4)

The Norwood Flames will chase an eighth successive victory when they battle the Southern Tigers at Adelaide Arena on Wednesday.

The Flames are approaching the nine consecutive wins that they registered to commence 2014. They defeated the Rockets in their last match 66-56, with Marisa Stabile, Jessica Foley and Elizabeth Keane combining for 43 points.

Despite 21 points from Denelle Fawcett and a further 15 from Jess Fergus, the Tigers were unable to take down the Bearcats, blowing an early 12 point advantage and losing 74-81.

The Tigers suffered their biggest defeat of the season against the Flames on March 29, where they were beaten 40-86.

Eastern (3-3) v Centrals (0-5)

The Eastern Mavericks will attempt to bounce back from a close loss to the Panthers when they verse the Central District Lions at Adelaide Arena on Wednesday.

The Mavericks, minus Emma Hooley, gave up a five point ¾ time advantage in their 58-62 setback on ANZAC Day. Bianca Thacker had a team-high 18 points, while Demetria Frank was held to 11 points.

The Lions appear to be getting closer to a win, since acquiring Amy Lewis and Rosalie Cutri. They were within four points of Forestville at ¾ time on ANZAC Day, before falling to a 65-80 defeat. Lewis had 30 points and Cutri 10.

The Mavericks ran out 94-57 winners against the Lions earlier this year.
