ROUND NINETEEN: Southern Tigers v North Adelaide Rockets

WOMEN by Kieren Vartuli

The Tigers made mincemeat out of the Panthers who visited them in round 18 and will now face the slightly more challenging North Adelaide Rockets at home. The Tigers carved up the Panthers inside and scored a whopping 58-points in the paint highlighting the lack of interior D South have. In what was a phenomenal outing for the Tigers, there is still room for improvement with their struggles from the line. At the charity stripe, the Tigers scored 66 percent of their attempts exhibiting a potential area of growth. A disappointing 3rd Panther period helped the Rockets secure another victory on the road for 2019. Behind Abi Mader’s breakout contest, the young Rocket dropped 21-points (Rocket high) off a delightful 60 percent from the floor. Veteran Tayla Corrigan also put in the hard work by recording a strong double-double of 12-points and 23-rebounds and in turn helping her side to secure victory on the defensive glass. After scraping a victory over the Panthers, the Rockets will struggle to contain a top-end Tiger unit.

Hang Time Prediction: Southern Tigers

MEN by Daniel Renfrey

Both the Tigers and the Rockets were impressive in their wins against South Adelaide over the weekend, meaning both will have good momentum leading into this clash. Southern were extremely efficient on offence, with 26 assists and 53% of their shots inside the three-point line made. Gilligan was outstanding with 37 points and 11 boards while Turnage had 28 and 12. Meanwhile Starling and Bijan Johnson combined for 65 points, 16 rebounds and 14 assists in huge performances for North Adelaide. This one will very much be a matchup between key players. Whichever team can run the floor better will also have the advantage in this one, with both teams having big men who can get up and down fast. It should be a close game but with the form North Adelaide seem to have and the depth they boast, it’s hard to go past them.
