MOLLY URQUHART MORAN FOR SUNS

People at the SUNS may not be familiar with the name Molly Urquhart-Moran. Molly has recently joined the Senior Women’s Program and brings a wealth of basketball experience to the team after a decade in the Australian Pearls and Victorian Metro Ivor Burge Teams.

If you have ever called the State Basketball Centre, chances are you have spoken to her in her role as receptionist for the State Basketball Centre, Basketball Victoria and Basketball Australia

Molly brings some much-needed size to the group and possess a consistent shot from 3pt range as well.

Molly is excited to be part of the SUNS – “I love it. It is a really exciting time for the club and for the team. We have been working really hard and it hasn’t taken long for us to become really good mates”.

After making her international debut in 2007 as a 17-year-old, Molly has represented Australia at 3 Global Games and a number of tournaments in Asia, Europe and South America.

Molly is about to face a new challenge as she heads to Loano, Italy representing Australia at the INAS 3 on 3 World Championships. The tournament runs from the 19th to the 28th of November.

The team will play Japan, France and the U.S.A. in the competition. Australia is currently ranked number 1 in the world after winning gold at the 2015 INAS Global Games that were held in Ecuador, a team which Molly was the captain.

“Japan are always a hard team to compete against. They are aggressive and don’t stop the entire game. I am looking forward to the challenge – representing Australia is something I am proud of.”

The SUNS team in 2018 will see several new and familiar faces to the club including Danielle Brotto, Brianna Donnelly, Lauren Davis, Zinsi Mkhize, Rachel Binning, Cassie Sansom and USA college player Olivia Woods.
