Big V Wrap - Round 2

What a weekend it was, we witnessed a mixed bag with a few bursts of the high standard that we know our Senior Championship teams are capable of. All four teams drew some major positives from Round 2, and it will only put us in a better place for Round 3 this weekend.

Our VYCW travelled to Hawthorn for a fierce battle and came away with a massive scalp winning with a 51 - 47 scoreline. Chloe Hildebrand was a solid performer with an important 11 point, five rebound game. The girls are back on the road to Nunawading next Sunday for a 12 pm Tip-off.

Our VYCM played in two tough battles this weekend. First up was a loss in a nail bitter against the Altona Gators. Justin Petrie and Josh Gilmore were massive with 15 points, and ten rebounds each. The next day the boys hit the road to face the Hawthorn Magic but came up short 69 - 62. The boys will be seeking redemption in Round 3, and you can catch them this Saturday night against the Nunawading Spectres for a 6 pm tip-off here at DV.

Our SCW took it right up to the Warrandyte Venom on Sunday but came up short 72 - 63. Kasey Burton was a standout, finishing with 14 rebounds and 10 points to her name. Our Champ Women are off to the State Basketball Centre in round 3 to take on the Knox Raiders this Sunday from 12 pm in what will be a massive game for our season.

It was a mixed round for our Senior Champ Men, as they got the job done on Saturday night against a strong Casey Cavaliers outfit 87 - 75, but came up short against the Werribee Devils on Sunday 81 - 77. American import Ray Sanders was dominant in both games, racking up over points in both outings. Our Champ Men will be coming out firing this Saturday night against our new coach Ross Moll's former side the Whittlesea Pacers at DV.

It's been fantastic to see the support from the Eagle Army this year. Your support is our 6th player on the court!
