AMELIA SMITH ON BOARD FOR 2017

Though young in years, Amelia has been able to experience both major State leagues in our State – having played Big V State Championship Women for Bulleen and recently represented Sandringham in SEABL.

Playing a successful junior career at Bulleen, Amelia progressed to joining their Big V program, playing 20 games for their State Championship Women’s team in 2015. In 2016 she moved to Sandringham to play in the SEABL competition where she featured in 12 games, including a 5 point, 6 rebound and 1 assist game in 27 minutes against Bendigo.

‘I’m so excited for the season ahead ! I’ve worked with Dee before back in my Bulleen days and I’m so impressed at how professional the environment is at Diamond Valley, both on and off the court’, Amelia says.

‘The direction and the energy around the program is really positive and I can’t wait to see how far we go this season’.

Amelia has been seen frequently on court at Diamond Valley of a weekday morning working out with Dee, drenched in sweat but continuing to push for every inch of improvement she can get out of each session.

‘Amelia is a great kid, great athlete and just a really good person’, Head Coach Dee Butler states, ‘she has a work ethic that will fit in perfectly with us – her possession play and plays made through sheer effort and will are the type that really lift the whole group’.

DVBA CEO Ross Wignell adds ‘Amelia is a tall, strong athlete who will add to our post play and physicality inside. I’m rapt that Amelia has decided to play with us. Her blue collar work ethic and rebounding will be invaluable to our teams success’.

‘I’m looking forward to Amelia being a major contributor at both ends of the floor in our State Championship Women’s team in 2017’.
