EACKLES TO FLY WITH THE EAGLES

Diamond Valley are excited to announce the signing of a new American import for our Big V State Championship Women’s team, Hailie Eackles.

Originally out of Sunnyvale, California, Hailie comes to us after a 4 year U.S College career with the University of the Pacific Tigers where she wore the famed #23 jersey and played in 118 games, averaging 13.8 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.2 steals per game in her senior year. Eackles finished her time there amongst the Tigers all-time leaders in 3pt field goals made, points, steals, assists and games played.

The Tigers finished the 2015-16 season with a 13-17 record in the West Coast Conference – the same conference as former Diamond Valley Eagles, Carly Turner and Carli Rosenthal’s St Marys Gaels, with Eackles closing out the season as a first-team all West Coast Conference Honoree.

Hailie had 6 games of 20+ points last season, 2 notable individual performances were games against St Marys - where she had 28 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal with 6 x 3 pointers, then later in the season against Santa Clara where she had 28 points, 4 rebounds and 5 steals, also including 6 x 3 pointers.

‘We’re quite happy to have secured Hailie for our group for next season. She fits an exact positional need for us, due to a lot of our stellar young athletes and shooters from last season departing for college, and appears to be a great person, very respectful and level-headed – which is a priority for us when recruiting players to the club’, State Championship Women’s Head Coach, Dee Butler said.

‘This will be Hailie’s first year out of college and we look forward to giving her a sample of international Basketball and the style of play we have here, and we think she’ll do well with it and be a great fit’.

DVBA CEO Ross Wignell added “I’m really looking forward to watching Hailie play for us. She appears to be a very well-rounded player – showing an ability to shoot the basketball well from the 3, her athleticism in playing off the dribble or attacking the basket will be fantastic for our team. I think she will be great in our program.”
