Another Eagles player juggling travel, school & basketball commitments is 16 yr old Alexandra Sharp who recently represented Australia in the U/17 World qualifying series in Victoria. Alex will represent Diamond Valley in next season’s VJBL U/18 competition whilst holding down a development position with the Melbourne Boomers WNBL team under Head Coach, Guy Molloy.

Alex was also recently selected to tour with the Opals development squad that is currently in Hungary where they have been beaten by the 1st ranked women’s team 74 – 52 and caused an upset in the following game winning 53 – 42 against the 3rd ranked women’s team being guided by current Opals Coach, Brendan Joyce. Alex will follow that up with a trip to the USA with the Victorian NITP team in December.

“It has come on very suddenly for Alex, but she has worked very hard for everyone of her opportunities. Alex has been given a great opportunity to train and be involved with the Melbourne Boomers as she develops as a person and as a player in a hectic environment. Right now, it is all about enjoyment, management and learning to play for Alex, she still really loves to get back with her Diamond Valley team mates she has grown up around and chase success with the Eagles. “– Alan McAughtry
