Heat Policy
With the temperature expected to reach 39 degrees Celcius today, please note the DVBA Heat Policy which may come into play for the scheduled U16 Girls Semi Finals. A decision will be made prior to the first game.
21 HEAT POLICY
21.1 Where the court temperature reaches 35 degrees Celsius prior to the commencement of a game, the following must be implemented:
21.1.1 Based on a 50 minute schedule, the game time must be reduced to 2 halves of 18 minutes duration;
21.1.2 Teams are to be encouraged to utilise the maximum of 2 timeouts each per half;
21.1.3 Referees will call a compulsory additional timeout close to the 9 minute mark of each half – the clock will stop for this timeout only.
21.1.4 Teams are to ensure that emphasis is placed on rehydration for all players and coaches during these timeouts.
