Marymede Flames Join the SEABL Eagles

The Marymede Flames Basketball Club was formed in 2008 in conjunction with the construction of a new fitness centre being built at Marymede Catholic College.  The school itself offered great exposure to a whole new group of children, most of whom had not played basketball before.

Team numbers for the Flames exceeded expectations with 12 teams signing up in their first season, and they commenced playing in the Whittlesea City Basketball Association in Winter 2009.  A few years later several teams made the move over to the Diamond Valley Basketball Association to compete in the Northern Junior Basketball League (NJBL).  The Flames currently have 36 junior teams playing across Whittlesea City and Diamond Valley and is very keen to continue expanding our presence here at the Nest.

Marymede Flames Vice President Linc Miles is looking forward to connecting the juniors with the SEABL program.

“Marymede Flames Basketball Club are thrilled to join the Eagles in the 2018 SEABL program. The Flames have 239 junior members who with their families are excited to be exposed to the entertainment and high level of basketball that SEABL offers.

We are confident in the Eagles program and want to be partners in its growth and future success. Go Eagles!!” Miles said.

CEO of the DVBA, Ross Wignell, is excited to have the Flames on board for 2018.

“It is great to have Marymede onboard as they are one of our newer clubs. The brand of basketball their players now have the ability to come and watch with their 3 games membership is not only exciting but also educational. This decision by Marymede to purchase the Junior Domestic Club Membership is of great benefit to all of their players and their support is appreciated.” Wignell said.
