The Melton Toyota Riddell District Football & Netball League, in conjunction with award sponsor Dome Security, are pleased to announce the nominations for the Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award for Round 11 of the 2015 RDFNL season.
Steve Turner is a name synonymous with junior football in the north/western metropolitan areas. Steve is a Life Member of the Riddell District FNL who has held many roles within the league, including a stint as Football Operations Manager and on the RDFNL Board. In 2015, Steve once again sits on the RDFNL Board as well as taking up a team manager's role with the Western Jets in the TAC Cup.
The nomination for Round 11 is...
Austin Cicero (Rupertswood). Having played every game in Rupertswood’s senior line-up in 2015, Cicero is another talented youngster Ben Jordan has given a chance in 2015. Cicero played nine games in 2014 and was another to represent the RDFNL in the Under 19 interleague team this year, but his eye-catching performance in the Sharks’ Round 11 win over Macedon shows that Cicero has a bright future ahead of him at senior level.
To be eligible for the Steve Turner Medal, players must be under 23 years of age, and have played less than 15 senior games prior to the start of the 2015 season. Players must have played junior or Under 18.5 football in the RDFNL, and have made themselves available for selection in RDFNL Interleague Programs. The 2014 Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award was won by Jordan Baumgartner from Rockbank.
