2015 Steve Turner Medal - Round 12 Nomination

The Melton Toyota Riddell District Football & Netball League, in conjunction with award sponsor Dome Security, are pleased to announce the nominations for the Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award for Round 12 of the 2015 RDFNL season.

Steve Turner is a name synonymous with junior football in the north/western metropolitan areas. Steve is a Life Member of the Riddell District FNL who has held many roles within the league, including a stint as Football Operations Manager and on the RDFNL Board. In 2015, Steve once again sits on the RDFNL Board as well as taking up a team manager's role with the Western Jets in the TAC Cup.

The nomination for Round 12 is...

Jason Cooke (Macedon). Cooke is enjoying his first year at Tony Clarke Reserve this year, having been named as Macedon’s best player on four occasions, including their Round 12 victory over Woodend-Hesket, and booted five goals against Macedon back in Round 8. After a prolific junior career in front of goals at the Sunbury Lions and time spent in the Calder Cannons system, Cooke played two senior VFL games with Coburg in 2013 and spent 2014 with Pascoe Vale in the Essendon District FL before helping Macedon rise back up the ladder and into finals contention in 2015.

To be eligible for the Steve Turner Medal, players must be under 23 years of age, and have played less than 15 senior games prior to the start of the 2015 season. Players must have played junior or Under 18.5 football in the RDFNL, and have made themselves available for selection in RDFNL Interleague Programs. The 2014 Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award was won by Jordan Baumgartner from Rockbank.
