2015 Steve Turner Medal - Round 1 Nomination

The Melton Toyota Riddell District Football & Netball League, in conjunction with award sponsor Dome Security, are pleased to announce the nominations for the Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award for Round 1  of the 2015 RDFNL season.

Steve Turner is a name synonymous with junior football in the north/western metropolitan areas. Steve is a Life Member of the Riddell District FNL who has held many roles within the league, including a stint as Football Operations Manager and on the RDFNL Board. In 2015, Steve once again sits on the RDFNL Board as well as taking up a team manager's role with the Western Jets in the TAC Cup.

The nomination for Round 1 of the 2015 season for the Steve Turner Medal are...

Hamish Govan (Woodend-Hesket). In his first year back in the RDFNL this year after a stint with Gisborne in the Bendigo FNL, Govan has been one of the Hawks’ more impressive recruits this year. A former Rupertswood and Gisborne Rookies junior, Govan has been named in Woodend-Hesket’s best players in five of their six games this year – including top honours in their opening three rounds – and represented the RDFNL in its Senior interleague victory over the Nepean FNL.

To be eligible for the Steve Turner Medal, players must be under 23 years of age, and have played less that 15 senior games prior to the start of the 2015 season. Players must have played junior or Under 18.5 football in the RDFNL, and have made themselves available for selection in RDFNL Interleague Programs. The 2014 Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award was won by Jordan Baumgartner from Rockbank.
