Albury-Wodonga to Enjoy Victoria's Best Talent

AFL Victoria’s Youth Girls Academy will visit north eastern Victoria next month when it’s annual Community Camp is held. Over sixty of Victoria’s most promising under 18 Youth Girls players, and 13 of the State’s best female field umpires will spend two days in Albury and Wodonga preparing for a hectic football year that will include the AFL’s National Youth Girls Under 18 Championships in Adelaide in May. The Albury-Wodonga  region was chosen to assist the Ovens & Murray Football League’s plans to establish their own four team Youth Girls competition this year.

The Community Camp will see the players and umpires undertake community service, engage with local media, leadership development, fitness training and football training on the Saturday at the Albury Sports Ground. The playing and umpiring groups will then conduct a free super clinic for all girls in the region at 10am on the Sunday morning at Wodonga Senior Secondary College, giving local girls a taste of what is to come when their own competition gets underway. The weekend will close with an intra squad exhibition match at 12:30pm played under the jurisdiction of the umpiring squad. The match will provide selectors with their first opportunity of the year to observe potential State players under match conditions.
