Keon Park Stars Joins Northern Youth Girls Competition

A year after affiliating with the Lalor Stars Women's Football Team, Keon Park Stars Junior Football Club will have their own Youth Girls team.

Keon Park Stars were participants in AFL Victoria's inaugural Fair Game: Respect Matters program in 2009, which focuses on making the football community and culture safe, supportive and inclusive for women and girls. One of their initiatives in the program was to establish their own Youth Girls team.

Having enjoyed a positive relationship with the women's team, Keon Park Stars wanted to provide younger girls in their local community with the opportunity to play football whilst developing a feeder team for the women's team. Experienced senior player, Melissa Barnes has been appointed coach for their first season. Interest through the club's network has been very strong, however they are still looking for more players to join the club.
